Karina Canadas, MD is an ivy-league trained board-certified ENT (otolaryngologist, head, and neck surgeon) and fellowship trained pediatric ENT. Her training in adult and pediatric ENT allows her to provide high-quality medical care for all ages and backgrounds. In addition, she is fluent in both English and Spanish.
Dr. Canadas completed her medical training at Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, DC in 2007. She then went to Yale New-Haven Hospital for her general surgery and ENT training. It was at Yale that she was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society when a medical student witnessed her advocating for her patients for fair treatment. She then went on to complete a one-year fellowship in pediatric ENT at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children’s Hospital where she stayed on as faculty for 9 years.
Dr. Canadas has published multiple peer-reviewed journals during her career. She is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery and continues to stay up to date with current medical treatments and conditions. She has a vast network of other physicians in nearly all the subspecialties with whom she participates in a multidisciplinary approach when needed. A list of her publications can be found here: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/?term=canadas%2C+k
One of the things that makes Dr. Canadas stand out is that she practices a blend of traditional medicine as well as holistic medicine. Dr. Canadas learned how to practice and master the art of meditation when she had a spiritual awakening due to extreme life circumstances. She learned that re-centering the mind through meditation can cause an immense relief and produce positive results in even everyday life. When asked, in both her clinic and operating room, Dr. Canadas has guided her patients and co-workers with meditations with amazing results! With their encouragement she went on to make a YouTube channel of guided meditations (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMZu81XV_ITBRA7rspZshYQ). If meditation or holistic medicine isn’t your cup of tea, though, no need to worry, Dr. Canadas does not push anything on you nor judge you in any way. She is truly just here to lend a kind and compassionate listening ear to your medical problem and provide her professional medical opinion.
Another passion that Dr. Canadas has is that of simplifying patient education. Dr. Canadas believes that everything can be simplified in a way that anyone can understand. She and her team were able to create several patient education videos using basic graphics and in 3 different languages. The patient’s really loved this approach and were very thankful.
